Natural cycles - love it

user109842 · 01/07/2018 20:17

Just wanted to share my two pence worth about natural cycles.

I've previously tried:
Mirena - bled incessantly, no libido
30mg combined pill - gave me migraines
20mg combined pill - severe headaches / awful moods

I've got two dds - one conceived on the pill, one conceived first month of trying so I'm pretty fertile!

Cerazette has been sat in my bedside drawer unopened.

I'm now month 10 into natural cycles and I just love it. Combined with opks and bbt, we have lots of unprotected sex on my green days. I have a greatly increased libido, my headaches have eased significantly, good skin. I love having no fake hormones riddling my body. The bbt drop tells me when my period is coming so I've always been prepared.

Disclaimer : I have no affiliation to natural cycles just really love it!

Thank you! I am done with having kids but after a nasty experience last year I am actually scared of having sex and getting pregnant. Tried hormonal contraceptives - nightmarish. Tried the coil - a year of bleeding and discomfort. Came on here to look for info about the implant in desperation (well and truly put off by the evidence on here) and here you are with a natural alternative. I have signed up. Watch this space!

Oh good! Come back to share how it's going!

If anyone wants a Natural Cycles discount link so you get a free thermometer and 30% the first year subscription let me know! Star

Back for an early update in case anyone else is considering this...

Thanks furtile, too late for me although my thermometer was free with the first year of subscription anyway. I just got it on Monday and so far I am just getting used to remembering to do it. It's so great that the temperature value holds until i have woken up enough to put glasses on to read it!

Apparently it takes a couple of months for the app to get to know your cycle, but having said that I logged first day of TOTM and some other details into it and it is already enormously reassuring. As it turns out I have just been making wild guesses on when I am most at risk of pregnancy and I was WAY off!

FINALLY in 2018 we have the possibility of being able to enjoy a sex life and avoid pregnancy without taking mood-changing, weight-gaining hormones or having painful bits of metal stuck inside us.Smile

Yay cakegoblin!! I'm never going back either Smile

i don’t know much about this can someone explain what you do? would it work for someone like me who is in peri menopause and not had a period for 8 months?

Dontaskmyname · 10/09/2018 11:39

Hi Mackers, unfortunately I don’t think it will be the best option for a peri lady where the hormones are all over the place. It will be affecting your Basal temperature which NC relies on to work. I am pretty sure there was a ‘cut off’ age where Natural Cycles became less reliable due to potential imminent start of peri menopause. It might be an idea to call/email Natural Cycles and ask the question, they respond to any queries promptly. I have an inkling NC have mentioned it in their instructions it may not be suitable ‘later’ in life due to reliability issues at the time of major hormonal changes x

Mackers123 · 10/09/2018 20:33

Thanks dontaskme that makes sense

Hi, sorry to barge in late to the chat! I have been trying to find out some more about natural family planning, but I can't find a simple straight forward website. Can anyone help me? Sorry I don't know what all the abbreviations mean yet. I have two children and have been on the pill on and off for a long time. It messed with my cycle massively, which I didn't really realise until I came off the pill. My husband isn't keen on vasectomy, and there does seem to be alot of common side effects. I had considered the coil but Im not convinced, and the more research I do the less convinced I am! Any info on natural family planning would be great - a website, an app, what I will need etc. Thank you x

rdh85 · 16/09/2018 12:23

I’ve sent you a private message 😊

Haireverywhere · 16/09/2018 12:28

Natural cycles are great if you wouldn't mind getting pregnant but if you are trying to avoid pregnancy and would consider or would need a termination from a medical perspective if you became pregnant the developers themselves don't even recommend it.

ThomasShelbysBunnet · 16/09/2018 12:29

@rdh85 would you mind copying and pasting your info into a pm to me? Thanks

rdh85 · 16/09/2018 12:54

Haireverywhere - a lot of women who have fallen pregnant haven’t followed the rules! I was using NC for prevention for a whole year with no mishaps! But I was strict and followed the rules!
