Copper coil for me. Easy, no remembering anything, no hormones and I don't have any side effects

ChameleonsInCarsGettingCoffee · 06/03/2018 10:20

Copper coil here too, same reasons as Ollivander84, plus the additional reason of it being easily reversible if we want to TTC.

MrsSnitch · 06/03/2018 10:22

Mirena could. NO periods for 16 years. Priceless

MrsSnitch · 06/03/2018 10:23

Coil not could

MrsWineasaurus · 06/03/2018 10:40

I'm absolutely terrified of having the coil done for some strange reason 🙈 did it hurt while having it fitted? Any problems with it moving or coming out?

Hurt like one big period cramp then it was done. I've had two, and removal of the first one I didn't even feel, I don't have children either so fitting was a little more tricky due to that and my tilted cervix and uterus!

ladybee28 · 06/03/2018 12:28

Yep. My Mirena was a DREAM. No periods, no pain, no thinking about it.

Getting it fitted for me was horrible though - worst pain I've ever been in (but I don't have kids so it may be child's play for someone who's been through labour).

The insertion wasn't the bad bit - it was the bit before that where they measure your uterus. The insertion itself was mostly horrible just because I was still in shock from the measuring bit....

I had mine out in November last year and really want another one – am just gearing up to deal with the few seconds of horrible ouches that will give me 6 years of freedom Smile

MrsSnitch · 06/03/2018 12:55

Yes not comfortable to fit/take out but if you take some great painkillers just before it’s really just like a period pain. I tend to have it done Late afternoon so can dose up again on pain relief at bedtime and that’s that. I’m on my 4th and last Mirena coil, fitted after birth of last child, and it’s bern fantastic.

harrietm87 · 06/03/2018 12:58

Another copper coil vote here. It's hormone free and you don't need to think about it once it's in. Hurt a bit being fitted but painless coming out. I'd never use anything else again.

awkwardsitch · 06/03/2018 18:25

Natural cycles. No hormones. No painful insertions, totally au naturale.

LoveInTokyo · 07/03/2018 21:08

Depends what stage of life you’re at and what your priorities are.

I got on amazingly well with the Implanon/Nexplanon implants and had three in a row for 9 years in total.

Now I have a copper coil which gives me bad cramps and heavy periods but I wanted to come off hormones for a couple of years before TTC.

LoveInTokyo · 07/03/2018 21:09

Once I’m done having kids I will get another implant I think.

MrsWineasaurus · 08/03/2018 07:02

Thanks everyone.

In regards to what stage in life I'm in - I'm done with having babies now. 1 DS and 5 miscarriages later we've decided it's too much so would like something long term x

Then from my own personal experience I would try the implant first and then if you don’t like it get it taken out and try a coil instead.

LoveInTokyo · 08/03/2018 09:04

Sorry for your losses btw Flowers
