Unsure of what contraception is suitable for me?

Im having regular sex with bf using condoms,

I'm not using anything myself but every month I am completely paranoid that I must be pregnant and the condoms have failed. Being pregnant is something I'm not ready to be, so I want to have something else as well as the condoms, to ease my anxiety.

I don't really want to go on the pill, and I don't really have a good understanding of what else would be useful for me? Thanks in advance for any advice x

Thanks for your reply :) how do I go about getting that? (I'm completely clueless!)

You need to make an appointment either at your GP practice or your local Contraception and Sexual Health clinic. They will go through all the options for you and help you make a decision. You could try this right now though and see if it helps you?

I second that! I went non-hormonal coil after my daughter was born. I found that anything with hormones was sending me bonkers now. It works as a a spermicide so not altering anything in your body. They warn you that it can make your periods heavy. For me, they were a little heavier but also over far quicker (result!). Speak to your dr and they can point you in the right direction. Good luck!

What works for some, does not work for others. The coil is good, but I'm sure it's only usually suitable for ladies that have had a baby before, as it makes insertion easier?

I had the Mirena coil prior to having my daughter and it's pretty good. You haven't got to worry about it and I didn't get any periods on it.

I also tried the implant after having my son. It wasn't for me. It made me bleed a lot but I know people who have had it and got on fine with it.

A chat with your doctor or maybe a trip to the sexual health clinic will help you!

Also, I'm unsure of your reasons not to want to take the pill. But it can be very effective if taken correctly. I've been on it for two years since having my daughter. Good luck!

Nah not true - most women can have a coil.
