Vasectomy Update

Thought it post an update.

2.5 years on I still have bad PVPS. To top that I am now on testosterone injections as my levels have plummeted.

My medical team have run out of options to relieve pain, other than high strength pain killers as and when. Even the option of removing both testes is out due it probably not curing the pain.

One thing that stands out is the experts are accepting that at least 10% of men will get long term chronic pain (read for life). It will ruin your sex life and put pressure on your relationship.

I'm not able to sue because of the medical disclaimer you sigh which points out there is a risk of long term pain. What the GP won't tell you is that the risk is very common. It's only when you speak to Urologists does it become apparent it's very common and incurable.

My pain specialist said he has seen PVPS ruin marriages and cause suicides.

Even the complaints process with the GP commissioners isn't interested.

I have this pain all the time, and bad flare ups lead to time off work, and disciplinary action. Since the surgery I've had over 3 months off on sick. Some employers wouldn't be so understanding and it could put your job at risk.

I can not recommend this procedure as its ruined my life. I can't even get counselling via the NHS and I am having to pay for that privately.

Please thoroughly research the risks before deciding upon a vasectomy. There is a huge cover up concerning the risks, and GPs will not tell you.

The pain is horrendous. You really are up the creak if you get PVPS.

Please be informed.

A few months away but don't think the marriage will survive. As a minimum I need to give up killing myself working full time. Not possible on no sleep.

I felt pushed into it and have resentment as it's not turned out well. I'm not even a man now. Zero testosterone. Thinking of packing in the injections as the 3-4 days after are too painful, only to recover and start again.

I'm sat here pouring in sweat and I'm had my booster the other day. It's just not working. I keep getting blood tests at less than a third of normal and the endo says come back next year. That will have been 8 months.

There are a growing number of men that get ED after vasectomy also. This isn't documented but there are articles by a DR Carruthers of Harley Street that say if the operation isn't perfect there is a serious risk of loss of Testosterone. If you are brave enough, check out patient.info under vasectomy. There are the usual PVPS threads but also a long ED thread under vasectomy reversal.

It's an important hormone in men and women, but more so in men. Exhaustion, sweats, ED. Depression.

Well we are still fighting through this. Nice hotel this weekend but in so much pain sat in a chair all night for both nights. Back home and on settee after a cuddle.

Missus is extremely worried about forthcoming de-nervation as she is worried that my bits won't be the same again , ie totally numb and useless.

It's a risk but for our long term happiness I need to be able to sleep at night. Sleep is the most important thing. So long as I am pain free that's all that matters. If my tackle ends up more broke then so be it. At least I'll be able to cope better with more sleep.

No news on a date yet.

Denervation now on hold. Crap happens and mine gets worse. I now know morphine does not stop the pain unless you take enough to stop an elephant.

Some Farking driver ran me over and I have a broken spine. Been in hospital since November. Police will be charging the driver but I've had to give up on fixing downstairs for another long while. Fortunately I haven't been paralysed but will be off work for a long time.

Bang goes my job at this rate.

Can it get worse ?

Oh my god.

I'm so sorry.

I can't imagine how you're feeling.

I clicked on this as I've followed from the beginning.

Dh is booked for vasectomy on Thursday. I have worried about complications and think of you often.

Fucking hell.

Had to call my surgeon's secretary this morning and explained I'd been here for a while and surgery wasn't possible.

I'm back off the waiting list. Very tempted to just give up at trying to find relief as I have been talking to the pain team here and they are aware of the condition. The back pain was ok but the nut pain was still cutting through the morphine and is now as I type.

It's going to be months till my back is right again. I was apparently lucky not to lose everything below the waist.

As I'm currently in a spinal unit you get to chat with folk. Some of the blokes here have issues with ED due to pain meds they have. Explained I'd improved since stopping the meds but not all of them have that option.

Luck is just not shining my way at the minute.

I saw your other thread earlier today, and naively thought that the morphine for the crash injuries would at least give respite from the ongoing pain.

I hope that, whilst an inpatient at least, they can find something that stops the pain.
