Hello

was going to name change as I'm embarrassed but don't know how to do it, so fuck it. I've also posted in chat.

Got the coil fitted last month. Since then I've noticed a funny smell and discharge. I know this is common and I've looked it up but can't find any advice on the best way to deal with it or make it go away. At the moment I'm taking extra showers and using pads. I hate pads with a passion. Hate them

Are there any wise mumsnetters out there with a miracle cure? I'm going on holiday this weekend and don't want to worry about it when I'm in my swimwear. I've even considered using tampons! Help!

I really appreciate all your replies xx

It's not excessive - seriously, infection could be really serious and have horrid long term effects. Please do go to A&E tomorrow if all else fails.

AnyaKnowIt · 18/06/2014 18:48

I would go to a and e, it sounds like an infection which could turn nasty

charlietangoteakettlebarbeque · 18/06/2014 19:06

Okay. I will defo see someone about it tomorrow.

If I hadn't come on here there's no way I'd have even thought to get it checked. I thought it was all normal! So thanks xx

Good luck and I hope it doesn't affect the holiday Grin

charlietangoteakettlebarbeque · 18/06/2014 22:29

Thank you. I'm terrified, TERRIFIED, that I won't be able to drink if I get put on antibiotics!

OP posts:
deepbluetr · 18/06/2014 22:34

There are only a few antibiotics that will mean you can't drink alcohol. Most of the common antibiotics are perfectly fine to take and drink.
Speak to the doctor if you are prescribed antibiotics and ask for one that won't interact.

charlietangoteakettlebarbeque · 19/06/2014 09:20

terrible that no alcohol is my main concern (for the short term anyway!)

I have booked the docs for 4.50 today...

Thanks all for your advice and all your replies

xx

You are going on holiday- you like to drink some alcohol- I can't see that is so terrible. We are all human- some doctors I know are the biggest piss artists around.

I hope you get everything sorted out today.

Hello everyone thanks for your messages

The coil is fine, she said I'm a bit bruised inside but that's kind of normal. The discharge could be a yeast infection, I have changed shower gel recently so this could be the cause. She took some swabs, will get results back next week. She prescribed me some antibiotics but I'm not taking them yet as I'll be drinking non stop for the next week, starting tonight. I've had a few. Fuck it I'd rather have a smelly minge than not drink on me hols Grin Blush

so nothing serious thank fuck. I'm just going to be a smelly cow for a while. I'll take the antibiotics next week haha

What type of antibiotics did she give you? Unusual to give them with a suspected yeast infection.

MeMyselfAnd1 · 20/06/2014 06:53

Agree, Unusual for yeast infection, she may have tried to reasure you but I think that it is in your best interest to start taking those antibiotics than get plastered.

deepbluetr · 20/06/2014 07:09

Most antibiotics are fine with alcohol, but it's important to know which one she has been prescribed.

JenniMoo · 14/07/2014 14:36

How are you doing OP? I'd say the discharge and 'scent' are the same as I have, but I don't think there's anything wrong with mine. My discharge has changed to bleeding though, and has been going on nearly 4 weeks now...
