Copper IUD in, stopped Depo, what's my body doing?

Just wondering if this is normal. Copper IUD inserted 5 weeks ago. No pain apart from mild cramps for 24 hours after.
Stopped Depo injections after having them for 18 months (was due for my next one 3 weeks ago but decided to go with the copper IUD as didn't like the weight gain).
Have been bleeding lightly pretty much ever since the IUD went in. Brown spotting initially with watery blood, then what was more like a lightish period and now spotting again with more watery stuff (sorry if too much info). Nothing offensive and no pain still. Is this to be expected? Please tell me this will settle down as I am not used to it, having had no period for nearly a year and a half. Has my fertility returned do you think? Is it the IUD causing the bleeding or the Depo withdrawal?

Could be both? I had a copper IUD fitted on my period which stopped 4 days later. Then a week later I bled (heavily) for 11 days Confused

I bled heavily for weeks after having a 10 year iud fitted.

I think it would be difficult to know whether it is the reduction in hormone from the depo, or the coil, but it seems like you are not having massively heavy period, just ongoing bleeding? Is that right?

It takes a few months for the effects of a hormonal contraception to wear off, and equally for the coil to settle in, so I would just monitor for the next few weeks, unless you are losing massive amounts of blood.

Good luck, I hope it settles soon.

Thanks Fraxinus. Yes, not bleeding heavily so I feel fine. Everyone reacts differently I know, so I will ask at my check up. Just happy that the depo hormones are leaving my body x
