A few weeks ago, I took myself of Cerazette, after suspecting it was behind the eczema I was suffering from (It started around the same time I started taking Cerazette, calmed down shortly after stopping taking it) This is the second contraceptive that's caused this in myself. I can't remember the first, but I believe it was microgyn.

Anyway, I'd mainly gone on to Cerazette as a result of very heavy periods (takes me 2 hours to soak through a "super" towel or tampon, and this usually lasts 8 - 9 days.) I'm just pissed off at feeling like I have to choose between suffering the side effects of hormonal contraceptives and monstrous periods. :(

Have you tried something like mefenamic acid to make your periods lighter?

MildewMayhew · 04/07/2012 19:12

Mefenamic acid? I've never heard of it. Will look out for it (or is it prescription only?) thanks for the heads up.

It's prescription only but I'm sure if you tell your GP what you told us and that you'd like to try it you'd have no trouble getting a prescription.

Mirena coil is likely to be your best bet

Nothing worked for me until I got the contraceptive jab.

I went from Very heavy periods to NO periods at all.
