Anyone got a copper coil?

I have made an appointment to have a copper coil fitted as hormonal contraceptives really don't suit me. I'm just a bit concerned about the effect it is going to have on my periods. Does anyone have a copper coil and not have nightmare periods?? Any reassurance would be appreciated!
Thanks.

X Posts - Timetosmile I did know that about the coil stopping the embryo bring implanted, I think I am comfortable with it...
Hadn't considered the pregnancy risks thoughConfused.

I have one, my periods are heavier (but not unmanageable) and still last about a week. I have a fibroid and I do get some spotting about a week before my eriod but I think that is not to do with the coil.

It is the right choice for me, I really really just can't do hormones any more.

You can have it taken out easy enough if you don't get on with it.

I am Shock to hear first hand about carrie's experience. Getting pg would not be the end of the world for me, but after a few years if we decide that we are going for 'finality' I'd like DH to have the snip.
