Weird and painful period? TMI alert!

I started on Micronor (mini pill) at the start of January, had the implant in 6 weeks later, had that out 24 days afterwards and started on micronor again when I got my period 4 days later. I've been back on micronor almost 4 weeks now and have had my period since Monday. I've barely bled at all, I use a mooncup and have been emptying it three times a day and there's been barely anything in it. What has been in it has been more mucous than blood and quite a few purplish lumps and even this has only been a tiny bit in the bottom so more spotting than an actual period. I've also been in a lot of pain which just feels like normal bad period pain of the type I used to have as a teenager except it's been going on for three days whereas I used to only really have it on the first and last day, and paracetamol and codeine are only working for an hour or two - I've even started cycling them with ibuprofen. It's been at least five years since I've had pain bad enough that I've needed to take a painkiller so this is not normal at all for me at the moment (I normally just have a little bit of pain and discomfort these days). Has anyone had an experience like this with or without the contraceptive involvement?

I've been on Micronor for many many years, had 3 children in the meantime (deliberately!) and each time I've re-started it after the baby I've had a long drawn out period to start with, sometimes they've lasted almost a full month, then it settles down to maybe a 3 1/2 week cycle. It was quite dull, and felt like it went on forever but never really got going either, so lots of days of spotting, few heavier, then spotting.
Don't remember them being especially painful though? Probably a couple of days of nurofen for backache, nothing more serious, and once they settled down hardly anything more than a niggle.
Might be worth going to your GP if it carries on being painful, but in my experience, the first one was always the worst. First time round my GP offered a pill to stop the bleeding just to let my body "reset" but tbh I didn't take it.
HTH.

Arg! I had my period for a whole 7 days, it stopped for 4 days and now it's back :( At least I've been to the doctor in the meantime and have been prescribed mefenamic acid.
