and got my implant!!!

I decided thats what I wanted after DS was born over a year ago... been faffing around for ages trying to contact the local contraceptive clinic as my docs don't fit them - the local clinic were less than useless so decided to ring the next closest and they were ace!

Rang this morning, told I needed to go to the drop in clinic just to talk it through then could get booked from there, drop in was on today so went :)

the nurse was fab talked me through it all, then realised that today was perfect day to do it cycle wise ... whizzed upstairs and got a room ready (not a normal appointment day) and fitted it (she is qualified etc- not a dodgy place!)

Ace! The only bit that hurt was the local anasthetic ... got a lovely bruise - but thats no surprise, I bruise all the time for no reason...!

fingers crossed it works as well as the cerazette did!

Just thought I would update my post here to say one month on and no AF straight away - bliss!!!

I have noticably felt my hormones balance out and if I was going to come on it would have been by sunday - nothing! Skin is a bit greasier, but less than normal TOTM so I am one very happy lady

for any who are considering it, my bruise was gone in a week and I have had no problems at all!

Glad to hear it's working for you. I saw this when you first posted and didn't comment because I had a terrible experience and didn't want to worry you - I was desperately trying to get mine taken out at the time! I had mine out after 3 weeks so you're already doing better than me.

Only seen this now, but, I second the glad its working so well sentiment :)

My turn to give a horror story! I was on it for 3 years and gained 2 stone and had almost constant periods. I realised the periods were implant-related, but it didn't occur to me that the weight gain could have been related to the implant until I had it removed in order to TTC and the weight dropped off. I had some other medical issues going on that I blamed for my ravenous appetite, but probably it was the implant.

Fingers crossed it continues well :)

how funny - its the first time since my DS was born that my weight has been stable! Fingers crossed it starts to come down soon !!

I guess its horses for courses and some things suit some people better than others :)

I've got 6 months left on my first one, after being on Depo for nearly 10 years. It was a bit of a surprise to my doctor when I told him that I'd read that women shouldn't be on Depo for any more than 2 years, due to loss of bone density issues. I came off the Depo and had the implant fitted Sept 2008, and it's always been fine.

I've started brown spotting in the last week though. Could that be due to a drop in hormone levels - PLEASE do not tell me that I could be at risk of getting pregnant, as that is potentially disastrous. I have an appointment at the local Well Woman clinic for next Wednesday where I'm hoping that these sort of questions will be answered.

First time I've had anything even LIKE a period in over 10 years. Sad and [busad]
