My DS is participating in a fancy dress competetion in which he can only dress up as one of parents. I really can't think of anything else except putting him a suit on (either as mum or dad). Can anybody suggest me with some different ideas?
Also, DS is 5 yrs old and does not want to be dressed up as a lady(mum). But I thought it would be different than other kids to dress a boy up as his mum. Does it really matter for the boys' to dress up as a girl though it is a fancy dress competition?

Do either of you have a hobby that he could dress up as instead? Also don't blame him not wanting to dress up as mum, takes a very confident kid to handle the teasing he'd get.

Don't force him to dress up as anything! It may be different but he'll be mortified for years. I still loathe the day my mum dressed me as an oxo cube with everyone sying how 'unusual' a costume it was.

Lots of children don't like dressing up at all, so perhaps you could send him in normal clothes and say he's a human, like his parents...

Failing that what job do mum/dad do or have done in past? He could be a doctor/fireman/lollipop man/astronaut/teacher/coal miner/tree surgeon/power ranger... The list is endless and who is really going to argue that you're not and turn him away from the party...

He could dress up as the person you or daddy want to be. So if either of you have dreamt of being a world class chef, a skydiver, a mass murderer, F1 champion, etc etc he could go as that!
