..... my two dd's are back from a lovely weekend, exhausted and filthy and full of talk about the fun they have had.

I know it's voluntary and most of you have your own kids and jobs so a big thank you.

Thankyou. I'm primarily a Rainbow leader, but have taken part in several Brownie away days/weekends and I love every minute of them!

It's nice to know that we are appreciated by parents. There are, sadly, far to many parents, who think we are childminders.

Thank you from me too.

It is easy, sometimes, to feel unappreciated. We recently had a Brownie trip which took a vast amount of planning (other people's, luckily for me) and at which the Brownies had an amazing time. Yet most of the parents, at home time, took their girls away without thanking me or the other leaders. It's hard not to feel .

So your kind words are all the more welcome!

I'm not surprised at that really - I helped at brownie hols last summer and, apart from finding it absolutely knackering , I was very surprised at the attitude of some of the parents. I really don't think some of them realise that you don't get paid.

Someone's dad, once said to me, 'blimey, how much do you get paid to drive a car like that?'

(truth was, my old heap was off the road because I couldn't afford to get it fixed and my brother was away on business and had lent me his company car for a few days!!)
