I know I haven't a cat in hell's chance, but are there any harp tutors within travelling distance of Tayside?

DD2 has her heart set on it (somewhat of a Florence and the Machine pash, I think).

I wouldn't normally roll over on something like this, but I'd love them to grow up with an interest in music, so I'm happy to nurture any little musical whims.

Can't find a tutor.

No one plays harp north of Edinburgh, apparently.

Have you tried contacting the following and sking for recommendations:
www.telyn.com

www.morleyharps.com

www.pilgrimharps.co.uk

DD plays and we are fortunate enough to have a teacher on the doorstep, but many of her pupils travel up to 50 miles. You can lessons via Skype at Telyn.com

Good luck, it's a fantastic instrument.

We had someone at school who played the harp and she lived further north than Tayside......so they must exist

Are you meaning the classical harp or the clarsach? There's a clarsach society that could give you a tutor list. Or your local college/university music dept might be able to point you in the right direction.

how very odd. i was googling this morning as it is a bit of an ambition to learn the harp. no where within 50 miles of me though.

As Goblinchild said, might be worth contacting local universities/colleges. Even if they don't know of any existing teachers, they might have students interested in teaching. I fhtey have any harp students
