Beavers/Cubs

I have a 5 year old and a 7 year old. I am interested in sending them to beavers/cubs, and they seem to like the idea, but all of the information I have had back seems quite vague as to what they actually do!

So could anyone whose children go enlighten me?

There is apparently a 12 month waiting list anyway, so plenty of time for replies...

What goes on will depend to an extent what the leaders are like.

My son left one particular beaver troop because he found it boring but joined another group which he enjoys tremendously.

As for activities they work towards badges,
sometimes they do art work, sometimes they learn about other cultures or cooking and even a bit of carpentry. There is also time to let of steam and be a little boisterous.

My daughter does scouts and she even got to fly in a biplane last summer. How cool is that ?

But what I like best is that they get to go camping in lovely places (and I get to stay at home)

Thanks Firky.

I'm especially likeing the "time to let of steam and be a little boisterous"

Most will play plenty of games, lots of running about and being noisy.
Like Firky said, it all depends on the leaders. If you find they aren't keen on one group, don't be afraid to look for another!

I'm a cub leader and our first rule is 'have fun' but cubs still need to do what they are told and behave, also please remember we are all volunteers which seemed to come as a surprise the other week when I asked for some parental help
