That's it really. Ds2 got grade 1 violin in the summer term, but has only had one lesson since then as his teacher (dh's colleague) is busy. Surrey music service were useless and said could fit him in from September. He needs a teacher now!

Any recommendations for teacher in Dorking/Leatherhead area gratefully received.

Well done him!

I'm a violin teacher but I'm in the North East so no good for you!

You could try looking in local library or music shops. They often keep lists of teachers.
You could also ask the music service if they can recommend a private teacher, our music service does this quite a lot.

If you do find someone in this way you can go for a lesson to try them out and if you don't like them or your DS doesn't like then you could go on to try a few more. Don't feel obliged to continue with them if it's not right. if I were you I would sit in on the first few lessons, just to see how it goes.

It's so important to find te right teacher and there are some less than good ones out there.

Good luck!

Thanks. It's mad because dh is a musician and music teacher in a variety of local schools and he can't find a violin teacher. The violin peris are fully booked or don't want private teaching and they seem unable to recommend anyone else.

We have a music library in the town so dh is going to go in there next week.
