OK, it wasn't rubbish but at £4.10 a pop it cost a lot. You can get the same for free at the library or a mums and tots group! Am I missing something??? Whilst I am at it I thought the same of Tumble TOts - go to the f* park instead!!!

Actually no you can't.

At our local library you crowd into a very small space and sing a couple of songs. it is so crushed you can hardly breathe with a couple of librarians who have no musical ability.

Never went to Jo Jongles but at another local similar group we had a limit of about 10-12 with teachers with some musicla abilit and dd learnt how to share, beat rhytm etc. At Tumble Tots ds was encouraged to balance, climb etc in small groups and develop skills.

I have a music degree and still thought it very good value.

And ds refused to go to toddler group as it was way too crowded for him. He doesn;t like large groups.

my son and I go to jo jingles every week and we both love it, I suppose it depends on the jo jingles co-ordinator. I'm in west yorkshire and kerry who takes the classes is absolutely brilliant!

my son loves it so much we have bought the dvd's,cd's,instruments and props and jo jingles doll so we can have fun at home too.

Most of the people who come to my classes are musicians, teachers or doctors. That's how I know I'm on the right track. I have a masters in music.

However I'm by no means the most expensive around here - the most expensive one is run by a woman with no qualifications in music and is a franchise.

I am not a fan of music franchises as I don't get the "If it's week 3 then we are doing track 4, 5 and 6" approach - surely it's more sensible to read the interests and interactions of the group and respond to them.

I liked Jo Jingles. Wasn't keen on Jabberjacks though - is that still going?

MJ74 · 25/06/2010 22:20

Well, it depends what you are after? My daughter has gone to the MOrpeth group since she was 6 mths old. She is now 2 and 1/2. The leader there has a very unique manner. I honestly think she loves what she does and really cares. She makes every effort to praise the children and is extremely skilled. I feel it is a quality session, and am happy to pay for this as she is so attentive and praises all of the children by name. This is not possible in a drop in session. Our teacher builds up a relationship with the children and parents. It is second to none. Many people have commented on what an excellent talker my toddler is. I didn't really know as I have nothing to compare to. However, Jo Jingles has undoubtedly contributed to her language development. I am a teacher and would recommend this to anyone. Jo Jingles follows a topic approach which has been much enjoyed by all in our class. Go along and see x

As one poster has said, it prob depends a lot on who runs the class. We love monkey music - our teacher is fantastic. Dd has been going since about 2 yo and it's helped with more than just musical development. From early, she learned to listen to instuctions, interact with the group etc. Music is great too - children would sometimes be treated to something like night garden theme music played on flute but then teacher is ex LSO musician.

Helokitty · 26/06/2010 00:45

I tried lots of baby music type groups, but never got on with them - I found it usually ended up with me singing really badly whilst my DDs ran round and didn't particularly join in.

Didn't bother with Tumble Tots, but I have taken my DDs to gymnastics (pre school classes) since DD1 was 15 months and that has been fab! She has learnt to skip, hop, forward and backward rolls down wedges, bunny hops and my DD2 is even starting to do little handstands (although her knees are bent and she only goes up half way), she can also do head stands against the furniture - and she is only 3! Obviously, I really rate the gymnastics class .

It's Kerry from West Yorkshire eh?

MollieO · 26/06/2010 01:02

I agree about Jo Jingles but disagree re Tumbletots. Ds was late in walking and is hypermobile. The exercises at Tumbletots helped his mobility hugely.

cornsilk5793 · 26/06/2010 01:03

The tumble tots teachers were a bit Victorian when I went.

MollieO · 26/06/2010 01:04

We had a mix, including one man who gave particular attention to ds (in a good way!) and encouraged him to be adventorous. Made a world of difference and even his physio commented on how he improved.

cornsilk5793 · 26/06/2010 01:05

That's nice!

MJ74 · 12/08/2010 20:57

Excuse me, Cornsilk5793. If you are suggesting that I am a the Jo Jingles teacher then you would be wrong. How rude. Everyone has the right to their opinion and until you have been to the classes that I have, then you should hold judgements and generalisations to yourself. If that is what you are suggesting by -bumped- whatever that means. Luckily I go to a class with like minded poeple. You should be a little more open minded and perhaps try before you say people are shameless. Have fun wherever you go!

Kezza1234 · 01/11/2010 12:46

Hi Guys just reading your posts about tumble tots, i agree sometimes is very regimental, we found a fab company near us called funky action kids, www.funkykidsparty.co.uk, there are no start up fees and you can pay as you go, its a high energy action class, although there are some apparatus they concentrate more on the movement with the action songs and specially adapted props to make it more engaging for kids, also there age group is 0-5 years so all under 5 can go together!
