Thought it might be nice to have a place to swap ideas and experiences. Shall we do introductions first?

My name's MadBad and I've been a Brownie guider for about 5 years.

That was a good turn. And, much as we might roll our eyes at all the admin and faffing involved with the home contact system, it shows it works.

Hope you've got your feet up with some Brew and a Cake. Maybe someone will even give you a bunch of Daffodil.

Groovee · 01/03/2015 16:59

Just had a 2 hour sleep Grin.

They were great bunch of girls, gutted that we were having to finish early but they did what was needed before the parents arrived. Parents were fab too.

MyNightWithMaud · 01/03/2015 18:30

Well, if it was a bug going around the holiday house, I doubt the parents would have wanted the girls to hang around and risk catching it.

Becles · 04/03/2015 21:58

Had to log on to my laptop to find this thread! My phone is refusing to play ball.

We're pushing interest badges at home this term and did the agility badge in the meeting tonight - Very knackered leaders and girls Grin

Becles · 04/03/2015 22:01

By the way, have you guys seen this thread: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/extra_curricular_activities/2314733-Guides-Moan

Sad Wine Sad

MyNightWithMaud · 04/03/2015 22:29

Oh yes, I've seen it and contributed to it. It may have been a misunderstanding, but the beginning of the thread really did seem to be suggesting moonlit canoeing. Confused

Groovee · 06/03/2015 14:37

Thought I'd scared our new brownies off with the singing last week. But low and behold they turned up 30 mins late as one of the mums had the wrong time.

Becles · 06/03/2015 16:14

@MyNightWithMaud Thank you for agreeing to organise the activities for the first MN Guiders meeting.Wink

November - February sounds perfect for a spot of moonlit canoeingGrin Hands up who wants to design the event badge?

Becles · 06/03/2015 16:21

@Groovee children forced to listen to my cater wailing is the one thing they can't take away from me.

Which song was it do you think? Does it have actions?

MyNightWithMaud · 06/03/2015 18:25

Eh? I always thought this thread was the MN Guiders' meeting, rolling on from month to month.

Groovee · 06/03/2015 19:15

I think Baby Bumble Bee was the start but Alice the Camel tipped them over. I keep seeing that wide eyed brownie looking at me in horror. Grin

Becles · 07/03/2015 10:33

I scared some parents at pick up when they wandered into an old Austrian by way of the bog song GrinGrin

MyNightWithMaud · 10/03/2015 21:41

Has anyone here done Free Being Me with their unit? I'm trying to find out what the Take Action projects (which you do after the peer educator sessions) are - the link on the webpage seems wrong, as it goes to other optional projects to do beforehand.

Groovee · 11/03/2015 20:48

I've not looked further into it Maud.

All turned up tonight. We made snow globes for Mother's Day which was fun. The girls loved it. We had one zebra fall over but settled him back with the glue gun.

TywysogesGymraeg · 12/03/2015 23:41

Have you all seen this survey about a new piece of uniform for Guiders?
www.surveymonkey.com/survey-taken/?sm=_2FRGK7wvMqadEYHsbedJRhPm3Q8_2BsItcE_2Bq7CIfpWRENaHn64mpGhAvE5UQlSHEAHuXWdcI6HxqXFinYFO7sZqw_3D_3D

Becles · 13/03/2015 10:21

Hi all

Is anyone else going to the Anglia/LASER training tomorrow (outs self). Looks to be good, but I'm Blush to say that I'm going mainly to catch up with some guiding mates I haven't seen I'm a while.

Minisoksmakehardwork · 13/03/2015 12:40

Tyw, the link doesn't work because you've linked the end of your completed survey. Where did you find it?

MyNightWithMaud · 13/03/2015 23:13

If the survey results in a piece of uniform that looks as if it was designed for a woman rather than a man, I'll certainly vote!

TywysogesGymraeg · 13/03/2015 23:37

The survey is closed now. It was on our Wilts North FB page.
It was for different variations of s bomber jacket style jacket. Not bad actually. Better that the scruffy hoodies.

MyNightWithMaud · 14/03/2015 09:10

Oh, yes, the hoodies. The best I can say for mine is that it's warm.

TywysogesGymraeg · 14/03/2015 09:59

Every time we go on parade, or do something else formal in public, I cringe. The cubs and scouts and their leaders always look so smart.

Minisoksmakehardwork · 14/03/2015 10:11

I'd settle for uniform that didn't shrink the instant you washed it. And that's without tumble drying!

MyNightWithMaud · 14/03/2015 14:16

Ah, well. Now we're on a theme. I would settle for uniform that is the size it says on the label (the sizing seems so erratic that I would never buy online) and was of a decent quality (the first time I wore my uniform skirt, my bunch of Brown Owl keys tore a hole in the micron-thin pocket lining).

RhubarbCrumbled · 14/03/2015 23:00

Evening all. I've refound and joined the tea room. It turns out I'm back in Guiding! Woo! I went to my first Brownie meeting tonight as a helper and it was fabulous! A lovely warm welcome and a great pack. I only meant to go as a helper (haha!) but there's going to be lots of retiring Brown Owls in our area soon so there's been heavy hinting at me. Plus the AL is leaving next month.

Having been a Brownie, Guide, Ranger and previous Guide helper, it really feels like coming home.

TywysogesGymraeg · 14/03/2015 23:30

Is there a uniform skirt then?

Welcome back Rhubarb Wine
