She sails (she is 10)

We went sailing for the first time in weeks

While we were there she was asked to take a little boy (4) out in her boat. She did and sailed round with him really nicely.

She kept letting him in & out of the boat, then she let him steer. She explained exactly what he had to do, she used positive encouraging language, she didn't get stroppy or bossy and was generally a little star

The 4yo now wants to sail every day

& I am so proud of dd

Well done Miss Katymac!!!

(we really need a proud mum emotion on here!)

KatyMac · 31/08/2008 21:06

I think it very impressive the power didn't go to her head

Wow, well done mini-Mac! (Katy, is it your dd who had a terrible time at school? Must be even more gratifying when she gets a chance to be confident.)

KatyMac · 31/08/2008 21:20

Yes she did - things seem OK now (fingers crossed)

She is about to start her third year at the new school - so you have a very good memory

Welld one to your DD

edam · 31/08/2008 21:34

Golly, is it that long ago? Glad things are OK now. Remember it because a. I really felt for her because I was bullied at school and b. your MN name means something in my RL!

KatyMac · 31/08/2008 21:51

Aww

I was really impressed with her (& I told her)

Good! Tell her your imaginary computer pixie friends are dead chuffed for her as well.

KatyMac · 01/09/2008 07:37

I am SO upset

I didn't realise you were all imaginary....I thought you were REAL

What age did she start at KatyMac?
4 yo seems so young to be out on the water! Could he swim at all?

KatyMac · 01/09/2008 13:09

He couldn't swim - the water was about 3ft deep & his parents were there - he was also wearing a bouyancy aid (which is not a reason to not watch what was going on)

She has been sailing by herself fr about 4 yrs, but since she was about 7 or 8 months with other people in bigger boats

the childhood I wanted!
(was a swallows and amazons fiend )

KatyMac · 01/09/2008 13:24

So is she

It is a childhood I wanted too....so I arranged it (but not in a 'living through my child' way )
