Normal for 1:1 swimming lessons?

We decided to fork out for 1:1 swimming lessons for the kids as they’re diagnosed with ASD. These are at a local hotel pool, and at first it was shared with maybe a couple of guests which wasn’t too bad.

Recently, however, the pools been packed with families. DS1 says he can’t concentrate anymore and the area they’re learning in is now quite restricted - it’s not a big pool, kids are shouting, jumping in and blundering into him - he can’t even swim a full length.

We’re paying £20 per child for half an hour, so just wanted to know if this is par for course - or whether we’d potentially find better elsewhere?

Definitely not part of the course. Sharing a pool is normal but not it being so busy a child cant learn

I would expect a swimming lesson to be in a roped off area not mixed in with the general public.

When I paid for private lessons DD had a lane to herself. This was in a private schools swimming pool.

Not normal at all, but also (depending on your location) £20 for a 30 minute 1:1 lesson is ridiculously cheap

Agree £20 for a private half hour seems incredibly cheap and is perhaps the issue. I can't see how an entire lane for that price can be close to commercially viable.

DDs have lessons in a hotel pool in a roped-off lane for swimming lessons, there are usually 2-3 instructors doing 1:1 or 2:1 lessons. The other lane is open to regular swimmers but rarely more than 4. Our lessons are at 8am on a Saturday and it's probably busier in the afternoons. Could you move the lesson time to a quieter time? Usually the first slot of the day tends to be quiet.

No that's rubbish. But £20 for half an hour is cheap. We pay double that.
