Hi all
My dd has been offered a main role with rare productions Annie at the Albany Theatre Coventry. It's an awful lot of money , I'm asking if anyone else's teen /youth performed with this company before and what did they think of it. Have they performed at the Albany Theatre Coventry, if so do they perform on the main stage or the smaller courtyard studio they use for rehearsals. Also , are there 2 casts.
Really appreciate any advice ,many thanks

Haven't done them ourselves but know lots of people who have.

It depends why you are doing it.

Just for fun with some friends and to do a bit of performing - pricey but might be worth it once if cast in a decent role.

Because they are serious about performing as a possible career/college - total waste of time. It isn't a professional credit that you could put on a cv.

Also depend on age of child - once they are old enough NYMT (12, I think) or NYT (14+) are vastly superior and very competitive. Also expensive, but they are very well run and have some kudos attached, especially NYT.

My dd performed with them several times a few years back in another part of the country. Our experience was that they were very well run and a high standard.

My DS was in Annie with them recently.
Yes there are two casts, he was in the ensemble.
He enjoyed it.
Depends what you want from it. Fun and new friends? Sure, it’s good for this. Professional experience for the CV if she wants to do theatre as a career, not really.

Incredibly expensive especially when you consider that you will be buying tickets to the production as well.

If you have any youth theatre sessions or courses at any local theatre or arts venue, you’ll likely get much better general training from them at a considerably lower price whilst supporting local practitioners.

It’s an expensive way of getting some stage experience and sometimes of variable quality. I’d look towards your local performing arts schools / am dram societies / local theatre.
