Nxt year Gcse French would u introduce German this summer?
As we have long summer holidays, I was just wondering whether to use one week for the intensive course in German .
DD just mentioned it maybe could explore options to study in Germany in the future so also Germany is quite technical language if DD wants to pursue a career in technology

Unless your DC really want to then no, I wouldn’t put them on an intensive summer course. If they want to learn German then why didn’t they just do the GCSE instead of French?

If the child wants to, fine. My kids would run screaming in the other direction. But if yours is keen then go for it.

At that age, whatever they are into is worth supporting.

French, German and Spanish teacher here. No, I wouldn't tbh. The summer before Y11 isn't a very good time to start a new language imo. The summer after GCSE maybe. Not really sure German is particularly going to help with technology either!

German will be very valuable in a career in technology (or business).

Your typing is too muddled to understand fully.

I think it’s fine to do a short intensive course if your kid is keen. Keeps them busy and gives a good feel for it.

GCSE is quite basic so it won’t ruin her French if that’s what you are worried about.

I’m german and I can guarantee you that German language skills will not be necessarily beneficial in technical studies. It’s not a language that you pick up easily over a few months to a university degree level.
And please put on spellcheck, your messages are very hard to read.

No but it would be beneficial for getting jobs in that area.

In your op you said that your child wanted to study there?
A language course can’t hurt, but in urban areas people will most definitely have English.
