Lots of DD's friends train there or are with the agency.

High quality training.

Agency is good.

I wasn't too keen on the vast uniform list and we wanted weekly training that wasn't available in London with Stagebox at the time, so went with other similar audition entry training schools.

Like all of these, they are not 'inclusive' - they will feature and highlight the best in their schools, it's not about everyone having a fair turn.

They all suit very focused, hard working kids who are the first to put their hand up to do everything.

Whether it leads to professional work will depend on the usual factors - height, look, ability and luck.

Same here - DS doesn’t train with them but several of his friends do, including some working in the West End or on tours. They found the audition day a bit overwhelming (I think just lots of kids needing to be herded!) but after that have been happy with the training.

They do a fair amount of their training online, so I would consider whether that’s a good option for the specific child, since some just don’t focus online. In that case, I would be asking about the balance of in person versus online, as I don’t know what the requirements are there.

Their staff have excellent credentials and they have kids getting work, but as with anywhere there will be more kids in the programme than out working, of course. Their founders are also children’s casting directors so that is a unique perspective. (Worth knowing that they cast kids from
everywhere though - they’ve cast DS a couple times now and we’ve never even joined a mailing list for Stagebox.)

If you’re looking for the MT track, it is likely you will also need your dance and vocal technique training elsewhere, on top of the SB schedule.

but yes, they are real and more than a shiny website!

Definitely second that. The weekend MT school was on top of the 1:1 singing classes and the dance classes, and that was the same for all of the other girls in DD's class.

There were also a lot from full time vocational schools attending as an add-on weekend class.

Stagebox alumni here! DS attended for a few years. We felt the training was good quality and very professional. This was pre-covid days when it was all in person. Pastoral care was good and Agency was excellent.
The negatives I can think of were

  1. Cost, you are expected to purchase uniforms and Stagebox merchandise. There were also add-ons for the odd training session that added up over time.
  2. Although there are lots of kids, it can sometimes appear that the same ones get to headline. (This may be true for most places or life in general!!)
  3. Social media can be a bit much, again that may be a personal thing. They are very slick with their marketing and branding.

DS left as he felt he had outgrown it, but left with positive memories.

DD's friend goes to the London Stagebox. All the training is in London during the holidays. I think they find it very expensive - all the uniform, particular dance bag etc and of course the travel and hotels. So far I think he has had experience of featuring in a couple of music videos and will be part of a Stage Box West End performance. My suspicion is a lot of the fees go into making the very slick music videos which are a great marketing tool. Of course they are also great experience for the kids and a great way of showcasing their talents.

Is that online training or in person?

If online then loads of different options - The Actor's Umbrella, Mark Jermin, Le Blanc etc

yodaforpresident · 05/08/2025 11:55

My DD did the acting training with them which she really enjoyed and the accent training was excellent. We were sad to leave but she is a boarder at school now, so she couldn’t continue with them unfortunately due to it being online and agency submissions/ recording homework would have been impossible.

It’s for online with 3 masterclasses in London in sept Jan and may
anyway I had my reservations but in the end I signed my daughter up for the year so we will see
