Hi,

I am looking to sign my 5.5 month old son up for swimming lessons. Can anyone recommend a good swim school near Highgate? Thanks

Sorry, totally not what you’ve asked, but don’t waste your money. Take your baby swimming by yourself and enjoy time in the water playing and splashing around. “Lessons” at this age are just a massive con unless you are the one who desperately wants to sing nursery rhymes with other parents in waist high water.

The ideal is to get your baby confident in water, happy to put their head under etc by the age of 4/5, at which point you can sign them up for lessons where they can actually learn to swim, but you don’t need to fork out hundreds of pounds to achieve that.

Paul Dillon at UCS. Possibly for older kids but v good for actually learning to swim.

Clissold Leisure Centre have a lovely pool for kids as does Archway. My daughter had lessons at the Archway pool and enjoyed it. But for older kids the quality of the lessons was better at the Southgate pool.

I agree with this. As a baby, I used to just take my daughter to the pool myself. She actually learned to swim properly unaided whilst we were on holiday. She's a strong swimmer now (she's 13).
