Leaving Gift for Rainbow Leaders

DD has been attending Rainbows for 2 years now and it's time for her to move on . As there isn't a Brownies pack at the church hall she attends, she will be leaving for good.

I have already bought a card to give to the leaders and DD is going to draw a picture (she loves drawing). I was also going to get some Rainbow cupcakes to take along on her last night.

However, we received a letter last night saying how they didn't get much money in over Covid etc and due to the cost of living crisis, they haven't asked the girls to buy their uniforms or contribute towards the membership fee etc. It actually made me feel really emotional!

So now I am thinking could we maybe also gift them things to use? Paper, arts and craft stuff? I had read another thread which said not to get anything like that, but I think under the circumstances, it would maybe be really appreciated?
What does everyone think?

DD has enjoyed her time there so much and we really do appreciate the fact that the ladies take time out each week (and at other times too) to help run the group. Just trying to figure out the best way to show our appreciation!

Amazon vouchers so they can buy whatever art and craft stuff or other resources that are needed?

Ask what they need. We have a plethora of craft stuff at our Scout group, but some of our sports equipment (like bean bags and hoops) is well past its best.

And donate old uniform back if you can

I agree with the sentiment of wanting to help but the crafts cupboard may well be reasonably well stocked but they might need rope for knots or pots for cooking on camp or prizes for games or all sorts of other things. Or even badges - they really add up when talking about a whole group!

So as others have mentioned, a voucher that can be used lots of places, or somewhere with lots of useful choices, is a good idea.

Or perhaps ask what they would find useful.

I agree that an Amazon voucher is very useful. One of our cub's parents gave us an Amazon voucher when their child moved up to scouts, we used it to buy two indoor footballs, and some new, good quality felt tip pens. It was very useful, and very much appreciated.
