Grade 5 clarinet books/music

dd is working within G5 level and I would like to source some music books to give her more choice of pieces, different styles etc. Also to extend and challenge her a bit too.
Can anyone recommend any books they have found good/fun for her please? Its a shame there isn’t a site where you can put in your instrument and level and it shows you some examples (unless there is and it’s hiding from me!)

Music room is a good site, not sure if you can search like that. Also June Emerson wind too. I guess you could look at the books on the syllabus and play other pieces from the same book.

It's such a great idea to do more than just the 3 pieces for the exam

You can easily get the old versions of the grade books

Also look at the alternative pieces for the grade - they are often in books with a rang of pieces around that level

Also just look for "fun" things to play - guest spot books for example if you like the Beatles or Adele ( anything with a cd /download really ) - they don't have to be at the grade but you can learn a lot from playing along with tunes you just enjoy

Thanks all great ideas- will have a look at them. There’s also a kids pop book I’ve been looking at and was worried it might be too easy but maybe it doesn’t matter too much!
never heard of June Emerson Wind so will look at those too
we aren’t even starting G5 pieces from the exam book until Sept with the aim of DD getting G5 in spring next year, however she can play G5 pieces but is nice to build in a range of pieces to explore without having to polish them. She has orchestral pieces that she has to perfect so will be working on them too!

I definitely find it's good to play many pieces around the level and come back to the exam once really confident. Lots of repertoire helps with sight reading.

You could piggy-back onto books for different instruments. My DC both play different woodwind instruments and swap repertoire. It might not be exactly "right" but it's usually a good fit, and by grade 5 if there's the odd bit that looks out of range then it's a good theory exercise to come up with a pleasant sounding alternative. You could browse the g4/5/6 syllabuses (syllabi???) for flute/oboe/sax.

Thanks - I’ll try that as well. She would like to learn sax too so might look at those first !

We have these

www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/0571509517?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title

www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/0739091883?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title

and the movies one in particular is great. Faber also do a series called ‘What else can I play?’ which was also popular.

Have gone for a few graded books to start with recommended on here and by her teacher, now just looking at the fun supplementary books for her. It’s hard to find music that fits her taste but like fleetwood Mac so will try to find some of that or a general pop book. Thanks for the recommendations here- she will get plenty of different pieces as she is in 2 orchestras this year too….
