Does anyone know a good chess teacher who can come home to teach my Year 2 daughter either weekdays or on a Sunday? We live in Putney. Thanks.

I don't sorry @yellowmoosefever. Have you found anyone yet?

I suppose that you could get in touch with your local chess club but DBS might be an issue if it's one-to-one.

Hi - no I haven't actually. I didn't think it would be this difficult to find one. Thanks for your reply x

There are online games against the computer so I played once with my son and then he did abit if practice online and now plays with anyone so you may not need a teacher?

It might also be worth asking the school if they are interested in setting up a chess club.

We're happy to get started with anything actually. What's the online game you've tried out?

Chess.com has games for all levels.

Another vote for chess.com, and finding a chess club.

Thank you all - I'll give chess.com a try. I think she has a chess club at school but she said she finds it too noisy to concentrate :)

How about trying something like the Loop ear things? They're quite discreet but filter out some of the noise.

She might be too advanced for this already, but if she's still at the beginning stage, then apparently the Dragon Box Chess app is a good way to start learning. Dragon box apps used to be great maths/chess apps, but have now been taken over by Kahoot and quality/service has declined greatly, but I think the chess one is still one of the old ones that remains:

My son used scratch, but yes there's lots online!if a specific lesson could even try out school in case there's a lesson on there.

ChessKid.com is also excellent (owned by Chess.com) and is designed for children. It has fun interactive lessons & videos, puzzles, bots, plus live online chess without a chat function. It starts at complete beginner through to very advanced chess.

To find local chess clubs with junior sections, probably start at the English Chess Federation website.

Try Richmond Juniors chess club or look up She Plays to Win online?
That's how most youngsters start out.
