DofE-volunteering question/he;p

DC is starting the bronze level of DofE this year. Limited options for volunteering as still 13 for the academic year.
I've seen it stated that volunteer work cannot just be 'upaid work', but then I see that many things people say they have done is help to teach at a ballet class.

I understand helping at a club that doens't have any paid workers (ie scouts or guides), so would something like a dance school be allowed?

My DC does a sport at a club that we pay to do, and has been offered a chance to volunteer with them. I'm just wondering if it will count or not.

Thank you

I'm not sure but whoever his leader is they should know.
My DD did litter picking for her volunteering. The parish council clerk was her assessor. She did an hour a week and took some photos and wrote it up on the eDofE site. Dead easy and can be done whenever he can fit it in.

We have DoE volunteers at junior Parkrun. Is there one near you?

Yes, it will count.

Yes, I would count it but anything a young person is going to do, has to be agreed with the people running their DofE, so the best thing is for them to check in with them.

This is another reason why the scheme is aimed at 14+ yr olds though.
