Fun (educational) online games etc

Hi,
DH and I both work from home 4 days, and generally split our time so that one or other of us can pick up DC after school and be available from 3.30pm to 6pm when the other parent knocks off work.

Every now and then however one of us has a deadline which means ideally we'd both be able to work longer, so looking for options for something absorbing and fun we can give them to do for an our or so in these situations, which they can get involved in.

We're lucky enough to have a home office with space for both of us and also a workstation for them with a computer they can use, so they can hang out with us and ask the odd question etc. They do read/come and draw with us etc but I'm aware screens have quite a draw these days. I'd rather we don't abandon them entirely in another room, and happy for them to do a bit of computer based stuff in with us if it's just for an hour or so and not just TV.

Any suggestions for fun/engaging computer based things for 8 and 10 year old ages and up very appreciated!! (Doesn't need to be 'educational', just not passive screen time..)

Roblox?

DD and her friends spent hours building stuff on that in lockdown and still play it now. It's not "educational" as such, but you can play with friends and I was quite impressed with some of DD's interior design skills. She also gets paid for writing games that people play within the app.

They do play Minecraft and build rather fun houses on that. Don't know about Roblox but I'll look into it..
