Air tracks

hi, I'm considering getting my dd an air track for Christmas. She tried one at a gymnastics workshop she went to and really loved it. Does anyone have one? Is there anything to look for when buying? Thanks

Do you have a huge room? Unless you have one long enough to do a decent tumble sequence, they're not worth it.

What's a worthwhile size ? We have a big garage that gets used as a play room type space, so size not necessarily an issue.

The length you need will depend on the height and strength of your child (and you'll need to make sure you gave the required ceiling height). I'd recommend chatting with your child's gymnastics coach.

My daughter has this one in the 3 m size. Our house is small so she mainly uses it in the garden:

Length needed depends on what she wants to do....A 3m track is plenty to practice single moves on, only if she’s linking stuff together and/or having a run up will it be too short.
The “standard” home use 3m by 1m and 10cm thick isn’t anything like as bouncy as the deeper ones in gymnastics gyms (fortunately!), but is at least as safe as a good floor mat but without absorbing any of the “oomf” of take off. According to my DC it’s bouncier and softer to fall on than a sprung floor.

If they’re doing ambitious moves with a lot of forward momentum then you need to think about what they’ll hit at the end of it when they mess up.

My dc had a 3m one for Christmas a good few years ago, and still use it. Hers is Airtrack Nordic. Has a clear centre line so she can make sure she’s going straight etc.

Thanks Saz, that sounds good. We're definitely in the enthusiastic amateur category, so that sounds like it would work well.
