Just wondering - contemplating a move within UK and wondered - If you could live anywhere in the UK, in a 3 bed house, where would you live with the best swimming opportunities?

Is there a good club somewhere that also has good state schools?

Or is it better to go to a private school (if affordable)? Is there one near a good club? With good links?

Does it not matter? Is any club a good club? Is any area a good swimming area?

Thanks :)

How about Wycombe or one of the smaller towns/villages nearby? It's a really good swimming club and has boys and girls grammar schools across the road from the pool

There’s not many 50m pools in the UK.
Do you consider a 50m pool to be a requirement for a good club?

There are loads of high performance swim teams in the UK. Most "City of xxx" clubs are very very good and some might even be affordable. Plymouth is leaping out at me as affordable and good swimming opportunities. Everywhere has a few decent secondaries.
For swimming private school, Milfield school is a good place to start.

I would say city of Sheffield is blowing everyone out of the water at the minute, so if I had a choice to live anywhere because of a swimming club it would be near there

Agree about looking at a city. Mainly because these have the 50m pools and for swimmers looking to compete at regional and national level that's valuable.

Plenty of towns have strong clubs and more and more there's amalgamation of clubs to build up and allow performance swimmers the opportunities when they need them to progress.

The clubs that stand out at the bigger meets (ds swims at) are Sheffield, nova centurion, Winchester, Plymouth Leander, city of Manchester aquatics, Swansea, Portsmouth Northsea and the 2 swimming private schools Mount Kelly and Millfield.
And the Channel Islands but I don't think you're planning on moving there!

I think it would be easier to have an idea of where you wanted to move to within the UK and work from there with schools and also swimming clubs. Some people are willing to drive an hour for a decent club and others not so much!

I've just had the South West Regional entries sent through. If you want to work on the basis that having more swimmers entering makes a better club...
City of Bristol (club of clubs) 45
Exeter City 45
Millfield School (school team) 116
Mount Kelly (school team) 138
Plymouth Leander 117
Poole Swimming Club 56
Swim Bournemouth 31
Taunton Deane 32
Team Bath 54
Most clubs are sending 1-10 swimmers.

Was going to make the same suggestion.
