French equivalents of Biff Chip Kipper for early readers?

My 6 year old DS is learning French. The advantage he has is that - despite me not being a native French person - I speak the language fluently and thus I can chitter chatter to him in French (in addition to my own Asian mother tongue) so he gets plenty of practice, outside weekly lessons.

We are looking for first reading books. He’ll happily introduce himself, his likes and dislikes and his family in French but he doesn’t actually read/write it yet as we’ve simply been speaking and chatting it.

Are there any first reader Biff Chip Kipper type books in French? Say first books with which reception kids would be started off for early readers?

Many thanks!

We used Sami et Julie (from the series J'apprendre a lire avec Sami et Julie). They start at niveau 1, which has lots of phonics practice. The early books show where the silent letters and liaisons are as well.. You can get them on amazon.fr delivered to England.

The Luc et Sophie books are quite similar in style to the Biff Chip books - cheerful illustrations, easy to understand, lots of repetition, a bit of humour. You can find them on the Little Linguist website.

We have a few of the Berthe books by Gwen Brookes, www.little-linguist.co.uk/bonjour-berthe.html. They have a good range of vocabulary, from the simple to the slightly more complex, plus pronunciation guides. I also like that various nouns are repeated, but in both the masculine and feminine, allowing children to get a good early feel for this.

We also have a couple of the I Can Read French series, www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B09236C53Z?ref=dbs_dp_rwt_sb_pc_tpbk&binding=paperback&tag=mumsnetforu03-21. Slightly more advanced than the Berthe series, and good, fun stories.

We used Ratus CP and CE1. It's 1 book but full of little stories getting a bit longer as you go along.
