Piano app for me and DS

Me: had grade 5, v out of practice, don't really need an app as I could easily just practice 🤦
DS aged 10, good sense of music, can sing well but won't do thIngs in a group, cooperate with unfamiliar adults or take instruction/suggestion (he has SEN). He picks out the odd tune and makes up his own. Very motivated by gamified apps e.g. happy learning a language on Duolingo but was v disruptive/his in a small class we went to.

try the app store

Look at Pianote on YouTube. If you like it you can pay for membership. They also do singeo.

I think we need an app, he would just ignore YouTube instructions.
I should have said, we have Android tablets for the kids. Funnily enough I have looked on the Play store but I was hoping for some personal experience.

We've just started using Simply Piano app. My 10 year old is musical but lazy. Doing well enough on a main instrument with 'conventional'/ proper lessons. Simply piano seems just what you want so far. Gamified, decent quality (I'm a music teacher but can't teach my son 🙄 so that was important). I could set up an account on it for myself too if I wanted. It costs more than your average app but still a lot cheaper than a term of lessons for annual subscription to app.

Sorry, should have been more specific. Pianote do some short lessons available on YouTube. If you like it you can then get the app and join.

Just to add - my one quibble so far with Simply Piano is that it uses American rhythm names rather than British (quarter notes rather than crotchets etc). Also it moves quite fast. I'm trying to get my boy to revise some earlier lessons, but no... onwards he ploughs!

Thanks, will have a look at that.
I downloaded Piano Academy and it seems to start very simply and has some free lessons.

Reporting back - he loves Piano Academy!
He uses the keyboard on his tablet but I'm going to look at what he's done and see if it's worth paying the subscription too.
