Football Kit dilema

Hi All, our son is 11 and plays football in a local team. hes not football crazy and we dont follow a team or watch football other than him. In training lots of kids have the kits from various teams and some dont. it is a bit of a fashion show. any tips on what to wear so he feels part of the group? the teams shirts for his age are like 70/80 pounds plus which is out of our reach.
thanks

does the team itself not have a training kit?

Unfortunately not. Some kids wear puma or Nike non team football training gear which is a lot cheaper. He would wear it just for this though

Does he actually want a team football kit?

If he's happy the way he is then it's fine. Maybe let him pick something he likes within reason.

It might actually make things harder for him if he starts wearing team kits when he has no interest in that team or doesn't know anything about it.

What does he want? The big clubs also have training kit which is still too expensive but cheaper than the match kit and less obviously "last year's".

If he's not bothered, be pleased of that and get him supermarket sports kit.

You can get plain training kits in decathlon.

Sports Direct do a decent Adidas or Nike training kit. I would stay away from Sondico. You can get a top and shorts for about £20. Also get him some base layer too for when it gets colder.

If he doesn't support a particular team then get whatever brand is on offer at sports direct or decathlon, and he will probably be in good company!

You don't need to splash the cash but giving him a bit more insight into a local team or the premiership will probably help him more socially than having expensive kit. Kids will ask him who he supports, who his favourite striker is etc and it is easier for him to fit in if he can say something. It doesn't have to be a lot, try YouTube, or football annuals. Tickets to see smaller local teams can be very reasonable.
