Role-playing groups

Hello all, my son, who is 12, is very keen to join or create a tabletop roleplaying group in Oxford. He has a set of rules based on Marvel super heroes. It would be great if I could set this up for him. He is very slightly on the autistic spectrum and finds it a little hard to put himself out there. If anyone has kids around 12 who might be interested it would be great to hear from you.

Hello OP!

We're nipping onto your thread and bumping it in the hope that folk local to you will offer their recommendations.

Fingers crossed you find something Marvel related for your DS.

I can't advise on anything local to you I'm afraid, but have you tried speaking to people running local gaming shops? They are usually very friendly and knowledgeable and may know of gaming groups that run suitable sessions (though because of his age it's possible he may need a parent or guardian to attend - often these groups have a variety of different game types going on including board games so maybe you could join in), or indeed be aware of other similar age kids in need of a group to join.

Alternatively if he is at school, could he/you enlist a teacher to help set up a group? I would be very surprised if there weren't other kids interested in roleplaying games in a secondary school. Getting the involvement from teacher means your son wouldn't be putting himself out there quite so much!
