Advice about violin bows

Hello wise people! I'm looking for a violin bow. Full size. Budget is not huge. £500 max really. I will bring a few home if possible, but its hard to know where to start. I'm thinking jonpaul or coda. Does anyone have any suggestions for bows in this price range?

I have recently got a Coda Diamond NX bow, was about £350! I think. I really like it. That would be my maximum budget. I play in amateur orchestras and it’s fine for that. Nice weight and balance.

If you’re in UK Stringzone have it online - the reviews are good, popular bow.

Thanks gara, ive arranged to have 4 for a trial week. Its very exciting! Coda is the obvious choice I think. Seems to be very popular

Great craddock - good to have a few to try, hopefully you’ll find one that suits.

Coda prodigy seems to be a nice bow

Paul, that seems like a reasonably priced bow for a 10 year old. And can always upgrade later and keep as the spare.

Yes- she likes it for now 😊.

Any thoughts on secondhand/old bows? Or is it more standard to go for a bland new unlike violins? Our violin hunt is nearly ending (ah..., finally...) so I need to start educating myself for a bow!

OP, are you in London? Matthew Coltman in Chiswick has lots of lovely bows. He is a well known bow maker (his bow is displayed at Royal Academy of Music museum). He showed us one at £350 which DS said easy to play.
