If your child has been in a professional show for a short period

My child wants to audition for a professional show coming to our town, the show is only here a couple weeks. I don't think realistically my child would be successful, they are unlikely to be selected but I want to be prepared in case.
If your child has done this, how did they manage going out to the theatre every night? Mine goes to bed at 7.30 normally and doesn't cope well with tiredness. On the other hand can sleep anywhere so could nap in car. How did they manage school as well? How did you manage as a family ferrying them to and fro theatre, was there an impact on siblings?
We are not a theatrical family, we like watching but we aren't performers,so don't know any kids who have done this. As I say it's only fir a short time.
Thanks

Yes but you'd probably only go once not every night they are in it Wink

DD1 did panto last year with a national professional panto company. 6 weeks on licence. she was only just 8. she managed really well but to be fair she isn't a huge sleeper anyway. she was tired, she was also in "panto land" and wasn't hugely great at concentrating at school because she was in a dreamworld for that time but she handled it all very well and it didn't affect much school. we have another younger daughter and between us we managed it all well. she loved going to the stage door to pick her sister up, actually she begged to be allowed to go late at night but we wouldn't let her on school nights as she needs her sleep a bit more.

it is a big commitment but it does bring them so much joy and experience that if you can manage it then it is worth it.

Gosh, yes you can't go to all performances unless you have loads o time and are rich.
Mine isn't in theatre shows anymore but does plenty in the theatre musically.
There is no way I'd go to every performance or concert I'd be broke.
Now me and dh go to the occasional one, she does it for herself not for us.

Someone went to every show that dd1 was in, but its likely to be the only one she will be part of.

dd1 really enjoyed it, but she did find it hard when she was getting in late and then having to be up to get the bus at half 7 to go to school. She also missed alot of school for it but it was authorised absences.

oh yes - we had to buy tickets, we got 2 free ones in total per child and I think there was a reduction offered too but I honestly can't remember. I watched 3 of the 25 shows.
