Can anyone recommend any good materials for sight singing practice?

Thank you Smile

Age ? Standard ? Singing through a basic hymn book if you can borrow a melody edition would always be s reasonable start.

Assuming reading fluently and a reasonable idea of music reading

17 year old boy. Not great at reading music. Needs to improve his sight singing a lot. I have a hymn book but there's no point giving him things he might already know, so I was after a book of exercises I suppose.

He's never been taught to read a musical score, but is applying for musical theatre at drama school and needs to improve quickly.

I got this in paperback for my nephew who was in a similar position and he has found it really helpful - but anything like that really needs application! sight-singing

That looks great Jamie - thank you. It's for one of my students, so I will be able to do some of that with him and set him "homework" from it.

Op, I learnt to sighting with snook called Sightsing any melody. Worked for me. I also use solfege but he will need to be able to recognise intervals and degrees easily to sing in solfege.

Whoops, sightsing with a book not snook!

There is an ABRSM series called Joining the Dots which DD2's singing teacher uses. It goes up to grade 5 for singing and is a structured course with exercises.

Music of different genres might stimulate sight-singing:
