Hi

I am looking for a suzuki violin teacher in London for my 3 year old DD. I tried contacting lots of teachers via the suzuki london website however most said they didnt start so early or didnt bother replying. I'd be keen to get details of a teacher if you know anyone.

Thanks

Whereabouts in London are you? Most suzuki teachers I know have long waiting lists. Suzuki also offer other instruments these days- details are on the London Suzuki Group website. Was there any particular reason for violin? And I ask as the mother of a Suzuki violinist.

Hi we are in East london. We picked violin as did showed interest in it more than others when we explored instruments at family concerts.

Hi OP, my DDs do Suzuki violin, but in Ireland.

I did a quick google and see that Suzuki Hub has a kind of Open Day (instrument explorer day, try various instruments and meet the teachers) this Sunday at 2pm. Look like they take children from 3 and a half. They are based in Hoxton just off Hackney road, area seems well served by public transport.

Might be worth a visit?

suzuki hub Hoxton is run by a great team. Well worth a visit. Grin

Thank-you. I did speak with Suzuki Hub already but they dont start until 3.5 years. Which is another 6 months to go for my DD. They asked me to contact them closer to age. Such a challenge finding anyone else earlier than October :-(

My eldest started suzuki violin at 3.5 and my other two children started at 4.5 and 4. There is no harm in waiting a little. Could you put her name down to start in sept?

there are group lessons up at Lauderdale House - I know 3 year olds who've started there, but they could have been 3.5... 6m will go fast!

6 months will fly, especially with summer coming.
Meanwhile, you might consider buying Suzuki Book 1 for Violin and playing the accompanying CD to familiarise your DD with the tunes. Listening to the CD is part of the Suzuki culture, and it really does make learning easier, and helps develop their ear. The tunes are lovely, so easy to listen to.

And also expose her to other classical music, even just as background music. Since my DDs started Suzuki I have radio in the kitchen and car set to Classical station.

We also listen to Suzuki CDs in the car.

But I'd ask to put her name down for next term anyway, so at least have a place reserved for her.
