Help with Agency Audition

My DD13 has an audition in March and needs to sing a song (she has a few in mind for this) and perform a monologue. We are struggling to come up with any suitable monologues.

It needs to be approx 2 minutes long and age appropriate. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Does the agency mainly deal with film/TV work or theatre?

It is very important that she chooses a character that is around her playing age. A good starting point would be the Jean Marlow audition book for ages 6-16

Does she do lamda exams ?

As far as I know the agency covers more film/tv. And no, she doesn't do lamda exams. She is primarily a dancer although she has had a bit of training in singing. I will have a look for the Jean Marlow book - thank you.

In which case try & choose something that is a bit more intimate. Thestre is night, more projected etc. They will be looking for someone who can be truthful & intimate on camera.

I know at a level we did the Talking Head monologues - but maybe a bit old for her?

They would be too old. Whatever she chooses it must be a part written for a child.

A lot of kiddie agencies tend to go for commercials (pays well but know what you're letting yourself in for)

13/14 + is a tricky age for professional work (can get older teens who don't need licensing to play down)
