DS is boarding chorister. I miss him

DS started this term, and it's really hit me that he's away. I'm finding the weeks very long.

He doesn't appear to miss home at all! He finds the schedule quite full-on and he's tired out but he loves the music. It'll only get worse next year when he's a full chorister as he won't be home at the weekends. :(

I'm in two minds whether we've made the right decision. He's having a great time. I suppose I just have to let go a bit.

Aww. Much hugs. Choristers are taken over by the music, more so when boarding. Is he only young too? If he loves singing it's the place to be.

Singing in a cathedral is an amazing education in itself. Can't comment on the boarding aspect as we don't have a cathedral school - the kids travel into town 3or 4x a week instead. My youngest dd still does the big two have left school now but, dare I say it are excellent musicians ( not doing music though!) and continuing singing and choral scholarships at uni.

Do you get him back when he's 13 or does he continue to board?

Hugs here too. My DS is a chorister too, but also not boarding. We are very lucky, but it is a big commitment for us all.

He absolutely loves it and fits everything else in life around it very happily, it is an amazing opportunity.
