Packed 'tea' ideas for show day

My DD's are taking part in a dance show over the weekend. They will be at the theatre from 11am till 8pm..ish, so will be there for lunch and tea. Lunch is not a problem as ill just give them what I give them for school but I dont have a clue what to send with them for Brew their tea?

Ive thought of maybe taking them something at the appropriate time. But I dont think thats feasible.

Any ideas?

HAving helped backstage at such shows, I can tell you that the kids are so excited that they don't really sit down for a 'proper' meal. They snack all day long whenever they have time to grab something. Accept that it's not going to be the healthiest of days and give them lots of nibbles. Maybe some sarnies, but lots of things like sausage rolls, cold chicken nuggets, pepparami etc. Also cereal bars, cake bars, crisps. Some chopped up veg sticks and fruit. Above all - make sure they have plenty of drinks to last the whole time - it gets very hot under those lights, and costume changes, charging around a theatre and lots of small girls crammed into dressing rooms = thirsty kids!

I would pack up some sandwiches for lunch, plus a tub of pasta/rice/couscous with veggies in it for tea. Plus a selction of snacks like sausages, raw veg, fruit, crackers, snack bars, biscuits, cartons of juice, plus bottle of water, rice cakes.
Good luck to them!!

I would give them loads of energy providing snack type things, and some sandwiches. As Seeline says, they'll snack all day, they won't sit for a proper lunch/tea.

Drinks in bottles with lids that can be put back on (ie not a carton that stays open once its open, or a can).

DO NOT give them anything chocolatey.

I was chaperoning for a bunch of six year olds once when one of them produced a bag of frodo bars which they proceeded to melt over their white tutus!

Thanks for the ideas everyone. Tomorrow is the big day! Made them a picnic lunch each and threw in some extra bits for snacks.
For their tea ive decided on pasta and chicken nuggetsBlush with veggies
Packed plenty to drink even though they probably wont drink much as they never do, especially my youngest.

Flapjacks are good for something sweet which is also packed with energy. I second the sandwich and pasta idea.

Plenty to drink is def a good idea - it's gets sweltering hot in theatre dressing rooms. I always send water (yes I was the chaperone trying to wash Ribena off a white shirt & ballet socks)

Absolutely avoid anything chocolate & also anything that might splat over things (like those yoghurt pouches)

Space is often very very limited. They will be eating as and when they can

When dd has done all day theatre stuff I've sent things like wraps, pitta bread, mini sausages, cereal bars, & crisps. I send it in a cool bag with an ice pack.

Ooh yes flapjacks are fab.
