Hi,
Can anyone recommmend any books/systems for teaching piano please?
I'm looking for a set of books ideally, that can help my dd progress slowly.
It needs to start from scratch!!!
Thank you!

We use Chester's Easiest Piano Course and Me and My Piano (and Suzuki Piano School but that's not quite conventional, I think). First two are slow and easy.

"10 little fingers" is traditional to start with I think. Not a great fun myself though.. It is actually really hard to find a good beginners book. I have been using foreigh books but you cant get them here.

I recommend that Hal Leonard Student Piano Series or Piano Adventures. These are good for completely new starters as they teach logically but without assigning fingers set positions on the keyboard. They use reading intervals (distances between notes) rather than assigning finger numbers to set keys on the piano which causes all sorts of problems later on.

Over the last 20 years as a piano teacher I've tried John Thompson series, Pauline Hall Piano Time series, Key Club and others but the two above are the best I've found.

How old is your DD? We've found "Dogs and Birds" to be a gentle introduction for a 4 year old.
