i know this is really for children extra curricular stuff but wasnt sure where to post this.

I wondered if there were any other adult piano learners out there?? I'm 32 and had lessons in my my teens and got up about grade 4... but lacked any kind of commitment to practise. I can read music but I'm not that good yet but I'd bloody loving it now.

I'm currently learning this piece from the film amelie
i am not this good though!!!!Blush

so any other grown ups starting to play the piano just for fun .....how is it going and what pieces are you loving at the moment?

If you can play the Amelie piece- you may enjoy the Ludovico Einaudi pieces.
See
and

You can down load them digitally from Musicroom (Pan down the page to find the digital downloads- you will need Sibelius Scorch to download them and print them but it is free software and very useful if you want sheet music quickly.)

Another composer I have discovered recently who has Published a book of really nice simple Piano Pieces Called Embers, is Helen Jane Long.
I really like and (although she really isn't that great a pianist!)

They are from a piano collection/ Album called Embers also available from Musicroom

Enjoy! Smile

Me. 6 yrs of effort & I'm at the heady heights of about grade 3 TG or G2 ABSRM. I spent about £60 on new books a few weeks ago; I think the shop lady was astonished but I don't know what I like until I try it, iyswim, so may as get the lot to go home & play with; should keep me in books for the next yr. I'm flogging older books I've already worked thru on Ebay. I'm all self-taught out of books.

I am ( AM ) getting off MN in about 90 seconds to go practice Saraband, a piece attributed to Purcell (I already knew I quite liked Purcell, so that's nice!); pgs 4-5 in an ABSRM Keyboard anthology ("Second series Book I").

PianoWorld forums are fairly active & good place to chat, I lurk in the Adult Beginners section.

Me too, about to take grade 5 ABSRM. I watch my 7 year old effortlessly learn to read music, whilst it takes me forever.
