Teaching guitar - teacher's techniques

Hi, I just wanted to gather some opinions from those who have kids learning guitar, and those who teach. My DS is 6 and has had 2 teachers over the past year. My query is, how much do teachers make kids practise a song for, before moving on?

His first teacher would make him play a piece for a few weeks (and from what I remember of my piano lessons as a child, my teachers would do the same. It was tedious and frustrating).

However, his new teacher moves him very rapidly through his music book and without even giving him stuff to practise. My DS is playing well, we do our own 'revision' anyway and his notes are accurate, but his speed is very slow. I'm not sure if he should be taking this slower? I know I should ask the teacher, but I'm not sure how to 'word it' and not sound, confrontational or pushy. I also think that his way could be better, but I am surprised by the swift 'progress'.

So, does the new teacher have a newer/modern way of teaching and should I appreciate that, rather than find fault with it?

TIA :)
