I cannot understand why anyone would vote for the tories especially after this report.

I do love a well thought out and considered reply.

my initial reaction was hahahahaha but i see thats already been done.

OtraCosaMariposa · 09/10/2019 17:02

My initial reaction is the same as the first two.

What a pile of crap.

Lumene · 09/10/2019 17:02

Came on to post hahahahaha etc

Hirsutefirs · 09/10/2019 17:03

How much will I get?

Seeline · 09/10/2019 17:03

And how much in debt will the country be by the end of it?

Lumene · 09/10/2019 17:05

Also the report is actually talking about the economic impact of Brexit.

It assumes conservative govt = no deal but labour govt = Brexit revoked.

Which under Corbyn is beyond unlikely seeing as he supports Brexit - and if Brexit happens is irrelevant anyway.

longtimelurkerhelen · 09/10/2019 17:06

This is a report from the IFS, an independent organisation. why the laughter?

OP posts:
Lumene · 09/10/2019 17:08

See points above.

The report is equating a Labour govt with the economic impact of revoking Brexit. Which in reality is not going to happen under Labour, is it?

Legomadx2 · 09/10/2019 17:08

LOL yeah right it will

DoctorAllcome · 09/10/2019 17:09

There you have it, anything is better than a no deal Brexit.
Look how a no deal Brexit means £50bn in “quantitative easing”= more national debt. My dollar will be 1:1 with the pound come Halloween.

Sad state of affairs when the lesser of two evils is a communist wannabe.

Lumene · 09/10/2019 17:11

Chances are Corbyn in charge would mean no deal Brexit anyway.

So in reality choices are:

No deal + Corbyn

No deal + Boris

Want to change the choices? Join a party and vote for a different leader.

longtimelurkerhelen · 09/10/2019 17:11

At least with Labour we would get another vote on wether we want to leave the EU or not, now we are all more informed of what it means.

OP posts:
ArfArfBarf · 09/10/2019 17:13

I can’t understand why they have given it that headline when their analysis is actually talking about a labour-led coalition that will revoke Brexit and not implement any of Corbyn’s “radical” policies.

ListeningQuietly · 09/10/2019 17:13

Less badly off
is not the same as
better off

Notthebloodymustardcushion · 09/10/2019 17:14

Dear god. Confused

ArfArfBarf · 09/10/2019 17:15

From the article...

"Widespread nationalisations, handing 10% of share capital of large companies to employees while redirecting some dividends to the Treasury, or other policies that might reduce private sector investment significantly, would challenge the UK's traditional ‘business model' and risk damaging growth by an amount it is not possible to quantify", they countered.

However, "unlike Brexit, at least some of these policies will be reversible under future governments".

ArfArfBarf · 09/10/2019 17:16

Did you actually read the article, OP?

pikapikachu · 09/10/2019 17:16

Somebody won £170m on the Euromillions last night - does that count in this study?

Seriously, I've not clicked the link but that's ridiculous. Nobody can forecast spending when Brexit hasn't even started yet. Not a Tory fan but don't believe that Labour is the answer to this crisis either.

longtimelurkerhelen · 09/10/2019 17:25

Yes I did read it.

OP posts:
whirlwinds · 09/10/2019 17:35

pikapikachu You actually get a good idea looking at WTO and the world in general, what the UK has to offer, what the UK needs, it's competition, locations, taxes, fees and the works and compare what the UK currently has with being in the EU. It's that bad that the committed Leavers in the family have settled in the Remain camp for the past year. Labour is not the party to vote for, there we agree.

MockersthefeMANist · 09/10/2019 17:47

It's Saturnalian Politics, the world turned upside-down, as the bond dealers and derivatives traders say "For fuck's sake save us and Vote Labour!!!"
