I am due to travel to the States on 06 November...

I read these threads a lot and I'm more of the opinion that whether I'll be able to or not is still up in the air...

Government website says as long as there is 6 months on my passport it will be fine...

But if we no deal on 31 December are there even the airspace agreements in place to allow travel to happen outwith the EU or within? Hmm Will everything no just be grounded anyway? Will insurances cover Brexit?

If there's a deal am I being dramatic I'm assuming there will still be backlog anyway...?

We don't really know either way yet, but in my head I'm already not going because there's just too much not done?

Would love some opinions Confused

Looks like you should be ok for flights going to/from the US: www.bbc.com/news/business-46380463

There may well be queues and/or some confusion in the immediate aftermath of a no-deal Brexit, so I'd allow a lot more time to clear security at the airport, but there are supposed to still be flights to at least those places in that article.

(How many flights run from the UK to Albania, Georgia or Montenegro? Seems an odd choice of countries to prioritise!)

I'd also check the fine print on your insurance - it may well exclude disruption caused by Brexit, but I'd hope it would cover you otherwise, especially since you're going to the US. Traveling to the EU would mean they'd suddenly have to do lots of different things, but I'd hope that the things they'd cover you for in the US wouldn't need to change much because of Brexit.

Don't think travel to the US should be seriously disrupted.

  • Only proviso is if any of your party are EU citizens. We don't know what extra controls will be applied when reentering the U.K.
  • Check your insurance to ensure it doesn't exclude any Brexit-related disruption.

If there are Fuel shortages ( as per Govts yellowhammer paper) will this impact aircraft fuel? ( I'm sure someone more knowledgeable than me will know).

Mistigri · 17/09/2019 11:16

If there are going to be fuel shortages it will most likely be later than 6/11 (Yellowhammer docs suggest risk is refinery closures, which wouldn't occur immediately).

Thanks all! :)

The US routes are probably the most reliable in the world despite Brexit because of their commercial value

What about flights to the EU?
