Brexit

Is there a catchy way of saying 'No deal' won't 'get it done', in fact quite the opposite, it may prolong it for years and years

The EU have already said that the first 3 items to be discussed are the divorce bill, citizens rights and surprise, surprise, the Backstop!
As many people seem to only have the capacity to absorb information in the form of a short slogan, can you come up with one to try and get this message across?

No-deal = chaotic Brexit

whyamidoingthis · 11/09/2019 21:42

They keep referring to it as a disorderly brexit here in Ireland.

It does suggest it won't be straightforward.

YeOldeTrout · 11/09/2019 21:44

it's a great thing to ask but I'm not creative enough to find right words. Wishing you luck & keen to see ideas.

"No Deal Exit = NeverEnding Brexit?"

BlackeyedGruesome · 11/09/2019 22:56

Nice one trout. Catchy.

BlackeyedGruesome · 11/09/2019 22:57

Though never ending could be a good thing to those who want to stay out forevermore.

MrsTerryPratchett · 12/09/2019 00:58

No deal, no end in sight.

But I prefer Trout's!

Why must people be so negative

CodenameVillanelle · 12/09/2019 06:55

People are negative about no deal Brexit because it's a terrible proposition. It's ok to be negative about things that are objectively bad.

Theprestonfamily - it's not negativity, it's just being realistic. Here is a link to Boris Johnson's governments own document summarising likely outcomes of no deal, and bear in mind (as per its title) this only covers the Medium
Worst case scenario (not the worst worse case scenario). It's not negativity, it's likely. Think how the poor will be affected by the points highlighted in this document. If BJ allows this catastrophe to happen it will be irresponsible to the extreme and anyone still campaigning for a no deal Brexit needs to really dig deep and accept that they need to stop campaigning

“Why must people be so negative”

Kidding, yes?

MoggyP · 12/09/2019 07:07

No, and otiose.

Because every departure scenario means sequelae. And people know that

It's ok for people to want the actual departure, and then to get on with dealing with the new realities, however long that takes.

They don't want to continue stuck at this point. And that doesn't require a counter slogan

NoWordForFluffy · 12/09/2019 07:09

Why must people be so negative?

Why must people continue to put their heads in the sand about how awful no deal will be? Why are people so reluctant to admit that no deal is an utter disaster for the country?

It is OK to be wrong and back down from a point of view. It's OK to say, you know what, let's leave with a deal as I don't want to see the poor and sick suffer any more than they already are. It's OK to realise the elite have been selling a dud and that you've been lied to.

NoWordForFluffy · 12/09/2019 07:11

@MoggyP, but if the 'new reality' means that people could actually die due to medication shortages? That's surely not something any sane person would want? Surely?

No deal: a titanic disaster

sashh · 12/09/2019 07:37

No deal, no medicines
no deal, no food
no deal, no petrol
no deal, no holiday healthcare
no deal, no data on foreign criminals

ad infinitum

MoggyP · 12/09/2019 08:08

Reductio ad absurdam?

I suppose your view in likelihood of death a or any other consequence - depends on level of mitigation.

And whether you see worst case scenario as 'worst case' or prediction of what is likely or expected. (Which might depend on whether you have worked in business continuity sector)

ZenNudist · 12/09/2019 08:16

Moggy. This 'worst case' was originally labelled 'base case' but they changed it. Which if you've ever worked in forecasting and planning is just politics for how you want to present it. I bet they haven't even looked at the real worst case.

People like moggy are probably happy to take the chance of insulin shortage etc. Perhaps because they're healthy or have the money to get treatment privately on the continent?

Smelborp · 12/09/2019 09:00

@ThePrestonFamily why don’t you read the yellowhammer documents and educate yourself?
