Have you heard or seen the messages about preparing for Brexit?

They are ridiculous!

The motorway matrix signs say ‘Freight to EU papers may change 1 Nov, please check’

‘May’ change? To what?

The radio adverts say you need to check you passport, you car insurance, your travel insurance

Check where?

The government website is sod all use - it’s more this might, this may, check this.

We have descended into some kind of alternate universe here - if only it were a dream we could all wake up from.

Having watched the Select Committee for Leaving the EU Sept 4th it would appear that a substantial number of lorry firms aren't fully prepared with the paperwork. Without the correct paperwork lorries will be held in Calais for up to 8 hours, but there is only 300 lorry spaces, once these are full no more lorries will be allowed to cross the Channel until there is some spaces freed up. This will cause build up of lorries this side of the Channel. Best scenario gives up to 20% without paperwork, up to10000 lorries a day cross. Looks like there might be a big traffic jam!

There hasn't been enough compliant pallets, casks etc (Phytosanitary) made that will be required under EU law for food transportation from a third country, which we will be if we leave without a deal.

Didn't sound good at all.

This is crazy and it only gets even more insane. I don't get how anyone can still think this is a good idea. Even the people who want it are moaning so what makes them think anything is going to go well/be better when it's 'done'. Which it never will be of course.

The "may change " is a desperate attempt to tone everything down until it is almost banal. Even if no MP leaks the Yellohammer stuff now, once Parliament sits again they can just talk about it in open debate and claim parliamentary privilege. I doubt the Speaker would sanction them and , given how many of them are stepping down, I bet one of them will do it. Nothing to lose. Powerful public interest.

It is utter madness.

At this stage it should not be a case of ‘may change’ it should be that A, B and C will change and you need to do X, Y and Z.
