Baby due in December - what should I buy in advance?

So I have a nice neat stockpile of pasta and long life foods to keep me and DH fed in case everything goes wrong. Now I'm 25 weeks and thinking is there anything that may not be available in a no deal scenario for a newborn. Should I be getting formula, Calpol etc just in case? Anything else that would normally be readily available in the shops that might need a bit more planning now?

Congratulations!
I'd certainly forward purchase as much as possible, if I were in your shoes.
Calpol, nappies, pads for you etc. Reusables? I love the idea that cloth nappies can be exchanged/passed on. In a shortage that would be so helpful. Def some formula, even if you plan to breastfeed. As a young mum I was the most disorganised ever, but am older and wiser now!

Bottles and teats even if you intend to breastfeed.

Breast pads
Nipple shields
Maternity pads or lots of nighttime pads
Pet incontinence mats, use on your bed.

Nappies, wipes, cotton wool pads, top and tail bowls, baby wash, formula.

Sterilisers and tablets.

Some clothing. You may be given a lot.

Hahaha are you kidding!

I’m due in January and plan to stock up formula. I’d rather be safe than sorry if the price of dairy shoots up.

BeanBag7 · 01/09/2019 16:57

I would get nappies and wipes - reusable would be ideal.
May be good to stock up on any medications such as calpol, infacol, gripewater

I'm mixed feeling on formula. It is so expensive to buy considering you might not need to use it. Sure you can donate it to a food bank if you end up not using it, but it's a lot of money to gamble.

Formula can be mixed with baby rice when weaning so can use it up then.

I'm also due in December, I've bought some nappies but will stock up on wipes (not hard as I have a toddler) and will get a couple of boxes of formula in - I breastfed the last one till 19 months but had to top up at the start as she lost too much weight so I'll have it as a back-up. Buy a Haakaa (or similar) pump - this was so useful! I'm unsure which one to buy as I think they are all made in the EU - Aptamil and C&G are both made in Ireland (I'm in NI but no idea if we'll still easily be able to get it), and Hipp we used last time but that's German I think. Anybody any ideas on SMA?
