European Elections - What happens now?

Woke up this morning to see yet another delay until Halloween, bloody sick of this whole shit show and now we've got another 6 months of it. But confused about the EU elections. I think I understood it correctly that if we don't agree to the Elections then we have to leave by 30th June. Otherwise we need to elect Mep's. Is this correct?
At what point is it too late to take part in the elections, is there a specific date? Partly wondering this as DD's school is usually used as a polling station but no idea if it will be this time around, if it is then would be useful to know if her school will be closed that day.

I would love to have your confidence. However we are at stalemate at the moment so something needs to happen to make a change

Just had an email from Change UK inviting me to apply to be an MEP candidate. Interesting! Application form is quite long and detailed. Not sure I am actually thick skinned enough to knock on peoples' doors!

Electoral officers have to confirm Euro elections by Monday at the latest. Which they now will. So plans will be out in place for the usual venues to be used as polling stations.

If we somehow end up leaving before the euro elections they'll be cancelled. If we leave after them, but before the end of June, those elected as MEPs won't get to serve.

If we leave after the end of June we'll have serving MEPs in place. Which adds to the 'divorce' bill....

Or we just say 'sod it. Too hard. We'll stay' Grin

There will be European elections in the UK now. I have voted in them before.

This time I will vote for anyone who stands for election on a "remain" manifesto.

the more I think about this, the more I think all remain parties should pool their resources and stand as the Remain Alliance - ie Libdems, Change, Renew, Greens and maybe SNP/Plaid/Sinn Fein. No splitting of the remain vote. For these elections only.
